How to promote your landing page with zero budget


Your landing page is the front door of your website. It’s the first thing most visitors see.

It’s your best opportunity to make a good first impression.

You need traffic for your website. And your landing page is the doorway for that.

There are ways to amplify your landing pages without spending a dime. We are showing you 21 of them here. These tips will not work for every landing page type and definitely not for every situation but with a little mix and match, you’ll find a healthy combination of tricks which will get more visitors to your landing page

1. Launch New Products

A great way to attract new users to your landing page is to launch products that meet their needs. The great part is that you can often charge for these as well and make money. Remember, your landing page is the front door to your conversion funnel. As such, new products should be addressing the needs of new visitors, not old ones.

2. Optimize your web site for Google

Ranking high and on the first page of Google is the best way to get increased traffic to your website’s landing page. (Un)fortunately, it is also the hardest. But you can steadily climb up the ranks by optimizing your web site for Google.

SEO Audit your website to make sure that it is well optimized for Google and publish good quality content on a regular basis. That way, Google keeps indexing your site, and you’ll keep ranking for your keywords. Eventually, the traffic will come. Consistency is the watchword.

Find sites related to yours within your industry and outside. Sites like SimilarWeb can help with that. Or just search in Google using your keywords.

Look for the ones attending to your potential audience, people you also want to speak to. Offer to do Guest Posts on their sites. The linkback to your site should take the visitor to your optimized landing page.

5. Launch useful Infographics

If you have a designer in your company, infographics can boost your landing pages. Creating infographics of a process or of several industry facts which readers would find useful, entertaining or both will increase engagement and give them a reason to visit your website for similar content. Of course, the link/address you include with the infographic should lead people to your landing page.

6. Give Podcast Interviews

Podcasting is steadily increasing in popularity. Grow your podcast audience by inviting influential people onto your podcast. Think about it as the audio version of Guest Posts. So, get one or two podcasts under your belt (or launch your own) then start targeting podcast producers to get onto their shows.

7. Form solid partnerships

Partnerships will never go out of fashion in marketing circles. It’s as old as the art of doing business itself. Especially for B2B businesses, partnerships can be gold for customer acquisition. Build out referral programs with complementary companies to yours and try to funnel some of their traffic back to your site, either through website mentions or even their email marketing. Since you know where that traffic is coming from, it’s easier to create appropriate landing pages for potential visitors.

8. Create satellite websites

Simply put, a satellite site is like a feeder site, it exists solely to push links to your main money site. If your main website is around one niche yet you operate in many niches, you can build out websites specifically targeted at those other niches and use them to funnel traffic to your other sites. 9. Target the longtail of keywords for SEO

If you don’t have a very strong website, you can target longer tail keywords (keywords with less than 50 searches a month) which are often much easier to rank for. From this you can start building up a base of content that you can then use to earn links and propel rankings for more competitive terms. The higher you rank, the more visits your landing pages get

10. Do new keyword research

If you’re really struggling to increase the reach of your landing pages, go do new keyword research to get new content ideas, then go back to point 1 above and create new content.

11. Create Pinterest boards

Pinterest is a super strong domain and your Pinterest boards can rank very well. Do your typical keyword research for your website, then take some of those keywords and target them on Pinterest. A pro tip is to use your other online resources (website, Instagram, etc) to get them indexed faster and ranking better.

12. Target Relevant Forums with content

If you can get content or a product to go hot on a site like Reddit, ProductHunt, nairaland, Radar etc. you can literally get tens of thousands of visitors and often signups and sales. These forums have thousands of members and visitors each day. Getting on that coveted first page will send hundreds if not thousands of that traffic to your landing pages.

13. Speak at conferences

We’re really digging down deep into the marketing bag of tricks. Conferences are another great way to get in front of a targeted audience. Conference attendees are usually people who are very interested and active in the industry so having some of them visit your twitter page could land you more leads. Of course, your website link is on your twitter bio, right?

Also, encourage them to tweet about your talk and put your Twitter handle on the bottom of every slide. This lets you also get in front of their social media audience.

14. Create content for Slideshare specifically

Slideshare is its own content social network. By creating content for Slideshare specifically, you can also land on the popular content sections of their homepage which drive great traffic. Make sure you link back to your site from Slideshare too.

15. Create videos for YouTube

This one requires a bit of skill and creativity. Plus video editing skills. But if you can take the plunge, YouTube is a great landing page amplification platform. It takes time to build the channel but has a huge audience if done well.

16. Run webinars

Webinars can drive a new audience for you when you invite guest trainers that have an audience that they will promote your webinar to. Try to bring on guests who already have a large audience.

17. Host Meetups

Regardless of the industry, players in it will gather occasionally and meet, either for work, play or a bit of both. if you have lots of merchandise or even free meeting space, you can host one or two and get yourself some industry cred. Your branding will also be all over the venue so it’s easy to get visitors to your landing page.

This is a good, though elaborate, way to get your landing page in front of your ideal target audience.

18. Get included/featured in email newsletters

Some companies do daily, weekly, or monthly newsletters that curate content from around their industry, and many of these have a lot of subscribers.

If you have content that fits their audience, reach out to them and see if they’ll include your article in their next edition. Or better still, craft content that will appeal to their audience and push to these newsletters.

19. Recruit your customers as marketers

Make it easy for your current customers/visitors to share your content across social media and email. Offer them incentives like a cut if any of their referrals pay for something.

Either way, the links your present loyal website visitors promote on their networks should lead to your landing page.

20. Create a Quiz

Quizzes are fun pieces of content that driving engagement well with visitors. Plus, they’re easier to promote on social media. Sites like Quizzr allow you to create free quizzes to then post on your blog and drive traffic to your site.

21. Take your Marketing Offline too

Never underestimate the power of offline sources and word of mouth. Promote your website in your business cards, flyers, ads, company car and any other medium you use for building brand awareness.
